When the termite management notice cannot be found
Unknown is not the same as untreated, and it is not the same as safe.
In short: A missing notice means nobody knows what protection exists or when it lapsed.
What the notice is
A durable record fixed in the building, typically in the meter box, stating what termite management was installed and when.
What we recorded
A previous termite management notice that could not be found on a Craigieburn property, and a management notice not found on another.
Why it matters
Chemical treatments have a service life. Without the notice you cannot tell what was done, when, or whether it is still current.
What it does not mean
It does not mean the house was never treated. It means the record is gone and the history has to be treated as unknown.
What to do
Have a licensed controller advise whether a new management system is warranted rather than assuming the old one still works.
