Growth and development in Craigieburn VIC

Craigieburn's growth story is now about capacity rather than expansion. The Craigieburn Road Upgrade widened the road between the Hume Highway and Mickleham Road, adding lanes, bus priority, intersection works and better access to the station. From 1 February 2026 the Craigieburn line moved to a new timetable through the City Loop as part of the Metro Tunnel changes, with X'Trapolis 2.0 trains being introduced and the Craigieburn maintenance facility upgraded. A business case is also being developed for further line works including electrification to Donnybrook.
